Aaaannnnddd, we’re back!

Long story short: After a brief pause due to COVID and HB 242, Bexley’s Single Use Plastic Bag Ban will be reinstated January 1, 2021.

Here’s how we got to this point:

In May, 2019, the City of Bexley became the third municipality in the state to pass a single-use plastic ban. This ordinance was written with input from local businesses and the ESAC. We were up and running January 1, 2020, and things were smooth sailing until COVID came along. Ohio House Bill 242 was passed in late 2020, prohibiting municipalities from imposing a fee on bags. Therefore, Bexley’s Council amended and passed our ordinance with a 7-0 vote, to go into effect in 2021.
